Moggin' with Tabards - Tabard of the Hand, Cloth (Sam's Transmog Contest)

Ok, yeah I know, it's been kind of dead around here recently. There's just SO much to do these days, and so little time do to it. Blogs have kind of been on the back burner as a result.

Anywho, a couple weeks ago I found out about Samaramon's Transmog Contest and got super excited. She wants some mogs (any armor type) designed around Tabard of the Hand, the tabard that Draenei get in their starting zone from completing The Unwritten Prophecy

Sam is also being uber nice by accepting entries using any race, but I felt I had to use a Draenei for my entries as I'm also posting these as part of my "Moggin' with Tabards" series. I actually ended up using Euphyley's model for the first time ever. Darn hunter is always stealing the spotlight!

This entry somehow ended up being all about stripes! It started with one piece (I believe it was the leggings), and things just kind of snowballed from there. I had a hard time choosing shoulders I liked, but ultimately landed on these because I loved how the grey color looked as if it were fading right into the tabard.

Items used in this Transmog & Source:

Silksand Circlet - level 40ish world drop
Gleaming-Eye Shoulderpads - Megaera, Throne of Thunder (Raid Finder)
Elegant Tunic - trash mobs in Molten Core, Blackwing Lair & Black
Gloves of Piscine Attraction - Quest reward from Odor Coater
Mindthrust Bracers - Shadowfang Keep trash drop (Normal)
Klaxxi Lash of the Seeker - purchased with valor from Ambersmith Zikk <Klaxxi Quartermaster>
Elegant Leggings - level 60ish world drop
Gnomish Casting Boots - Quest reward from Show Them Gnome Mercy!
Staff of Natural Fury - Burning Crusade dungeon/raid trash drop

Stay tuned for my remaining entries for leather, mail & plate!

Moggin' with Tabards - Tabard of the Explorer (Cloth)

A lot of mogs out there are just plain ruined by tabards, so we keep them off. We leave them tucked away in our banks or we simply delete them. Some of these tabards may have been pretty difficult to get. Heck, you may even have a couple that are not even available in game any more. Well I think these tabards need to be shown off a bit. I believe if you have the right mog to go along with a tabard, you can not only have a really cool looking mog - you can also show that tabard off!

With that being said, this post is the first in a series of posts I plan to do that will be centered around tabards.

This mog featured below is built around the Tabard of the Explorer.

Look like an NPC - Chief Engineer Lorthander Transmog

Ever since I first came across Chief Engineer Lorthander (a level 69 rare spawn in Netherstorm) I thought it would be so neat to have his weapon. His staff looks just like the Staff of Prehistoria - the "key" that used to be required to open the room to Ironya in Uldaman (pre-dungeon finder). Fortunately, not only is his staff model now obtainable and easy to acquire, his entire outfit can be replicated for transmog with little difficulty.

The "Real" Chief Engineer Lorthander
Mages are the only class that will be able to achieve an almost exact replication of his look due to his shoulder & robe color choice (from the mage tier 5 Tirisfal set). Other cloth wearing classes can pull off an incredibly similar look though with some alternative pieces which I've listed below. The alternative models are exactly the same, the difference is in the coloration. The non-mage armor pieces have a bit more orange, where the mage has more red.

Jade (Mortal Kombat) - Alternative Mog for The Amazing Transmog Survivor Contest

This was one of the many transmogs that I rejected for the Mortal Kombat round of JD's Amazing Transmog Survivor Contest. Ultimately I figured some of the other contestants would pick this character, so I chose Scorpion instead. It turns out I was wrong though. Not only did nobody pick her, there was also another Scorpion - d'oh!

This round we needed to create a Transmog based on a character from Mortal Kombat. JD's rules were to "choose a toon and basically create a costume emulating one of the characters from in the game.  Perhaps your Goblin will put on his best Scorpion or Sub-Zero costume…perhaps your Night Elf will grab a fan and look like Princess Kitana.  The choice is yours and any character is fair game.  Speaking of which, the full list can be found here.  As is the norm, the outfit must be a proper endgame Mog."

I based this particular outfit on Jade. ~

Robes of the Guardian Saint

This transmog is built around the Robes of the Guardian Saint from AQ40. The idea with this set, was to try and emphasize the robe itself with as little flash from other pieces as possible.

My priest is pictured below in this mog, and it wasn't very difficult to put together. The most difficult item for me to obtain once I had the robes, was the belt - and that is only because it is purchased with honor and I had never pvp'd on her before.

Mogolympics Entry - Freestyle

The eighth event of the Mogolympics was the Freestyle event. The rules of the Freestyle competition were: Build your own NPC. Could be an innkeeper, could be the Green Orc Lantern.  Doesn’t matter.

The results of the Freestyle competition can be seen here: Mogolympics Freestyle Results

I chose to make a mean, wicked witch style npc. Sure, she'll give you a delicious looking apple...but do you really think you should eat it?

Mogolympics Entry - Wrestling

The fourth event of the Mogolympics was wrestling and the winners have been chosen! The wresting competition rules were: "We’re going to deviate from olympic wrestling and go to the sports entertainment aspect instead.  Using one of the “championship” belts, design your own Azerothian pro wrestler.  Think of the oversized belts, such as the Firemend Cinch seen here."

As in the previous three competitions, there was some really great entries and the commentary was very well-done. The results of the competition can be seen here: Mogolympics - Wrestling

My entry came in the top five, and was literally a sneeze away from the Bronze medal for this competition. This was my entry:
